As I keep harping that we need to change our lifestyle in order to prevent diabetes. I believe that by taking proactive measures, we sure can prevent diabetes altogether, and if you fail to prevent, at least we postpone it.. And there is another article on the same topic here.
According to a study published in The Lancet, dieting, exercise and life style changes can postpone the development of diabetes by 3 to 6 years in susceptible individuals.
Findings revealed that dieting and exercise reduce the incidence of diabetes by 43 percent over 20 years. It was also shown that all these individuals developed diabetes despite life style intervention.
Prevention Research Center at Yale University School of Medicine scientists said drinking less alcohol, eating more vegetables and exercising can prevent or delay the onset of diabetes.
Now Diabetes type II can be inherited, and if you have close relatives who are diabetic, chances that high that you might also have diabetes sometime in your life. So it is very important for people who fears that they might develop diabetes to have a very healthy lifestyle.
I don’t quite like it that the report said “these individuals developed diabetes despite life style intervention“, but I plan to beat it nonetheless.
Exercise regularly, in fact you should start using a skipping rope everyday, and work out in the gym everyday, with one day break after two days. Go for long walks after dinners.
Cut down the carbs right away, and eat lots of vegetables and fruits.
use sugarfree instead of sugar in your beverages. Keep the habit of having coffee without sugar!
All the best!
