A company might have found a genetic way to treat obesity and diabetes. They have had some success in a trial involving genetically modified Mice. No Human trials yet, but if this proves successful this sure is a winner. [via]

Type I Diabetic on Mount Everest

In yet another event that will surely raise Diabetes awareness, there is this Canadian Diabetic who will climb the Mount Everest to raise $100,000 for the juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF)

Sebastien Sasseville became the first Canadian with Type 1 (juvenile) diabetes to summit Mount Everest on May 25, 2008 at 9:30 a.m. local Nepal time. Sasseville, 28, set out on his journey back in March with the goal of raising $100,000 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and demonstrating that people with Type 1 diabetes can live without limitations.[Via]

And yes, people with Type I diabetics can certain live without limitation.

A new study has found that cocoa could help prevent Diabetes. The study is based on the fact that a compound found in Cocoa has helped in the repair of of vessels, and can help diabetics who usually have the risk of cardiovascular problems. The study didn’t mention direct benefit of cocoa in the prevention of diabetes though.[via]
